Praying the Scriptures
Friday Evening Prayer
September 5, 2025
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. From now on there is reserved for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have longed for his appearing. (2 Timothy 4:7–8)
Lord Jesus,
As the sun sinks beyond the horizon and the stillness of night gathers around me, I pause to reflect on this day You have given. I thank You for the strength that carried me through its trials and the grace that steadied me in my weakness. Truly, by Your hand alone I have been able to fight the good fight and to keep my faith alive.
I know the race is not yet finished, Lord, but I trust that each step I take in faith draws me nearer to You. When weariness presses upon me, renew my endurance; when doubts whisper, strengthen my resolve; when shadows fall, light my way with Your presence. Grant me peace tonight as I lay down to rest, secure in the promise that nothing can separate me from Your love.
My hope rests in the crown of righteousness that You, the righteous Judge, have prepared for all who long for Your appearing. Until that day, keep my eyes fixed on You, the author and finisher of my faith.
So now, in the quiet of this September evening, I surrender myself to Your care. With trust, humility, and praise, I lift my heart to You—my Redeemer, my Strength, my Eternal Hope.
Amen.
May the peace of Christ guard my heart through the night, and may His promise of eternal life shine as my hope until the dawn.
