Praying the Scriptures

Thursday Evening Prayer

September 4, 2025

He saved us, not because of any works of righteousness that we had done, but according to his mercy, through the water of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit. This Spirit he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. (Titus 3:5–7)

Lord my God,

As the September sun slips behind the horizon and the cool air settles over the quiet earth, I pause to rest in Your presence. Tonight I come not with boastful words of what I have done, but with humble gratitude for what You have done for me. It is not by my works of righteousness, but by Your steadfast mercy and grace, that I stand here redeemed.

I thank You for the washing of rebirth and renewal You have poured into my life through the Holy Spirit. Like autumn winds that refresh the weary land, Your Spirit renews my soul day by day, cleansing me from the dust of this world and giving me strength to walk in Your ways.

As evening deepens into night, I anchor my heart in the hope You have promised—an inheritance of eternal life through Christ Jesus. This hope steadies me when shadows lengthen and reminds me that no darkness can overcome the light of Your salvation.

Tonight, I lift my thanksgiving to You for the blessings of this day—for moments of joy, for lessons learned, for forgiveness given and received, and for the quiet assurance of Your guiding hand. Even in my weakness, Your grace has been my strength.

Now, Lord, I entrust myself to Your keeping. Grant me rest beneath Your watchful care and renew my spirit as I sleep. When dawn comes, awaken me with courage and faith to walk faithfully in the paths You set before me.

In the name of Jesus Christ, my Savior, I pray.

Amen.

May the mercy of God, the renewing grace of the Spirit, and the hope of eternal life in Christ Jesus guard your rest and guide your steps into tomorrow.
