Praying the Scriptures
Tuesday Evening Prayer
September 23, 2025
Therefore it is said, “When he ascended on high he made captivity itself a captive; he gave gifts to his people.” (Ephesians 4:8)
Lord Jesus,
As the cool air of autumn settles in and the light fades into evening, I lift my heart to You. The lengthening shadows remind me that each day passes quickly, yet Your victory endures forever. You ascended on high, breaking the chains of captivity, and You have poured out gifts on Your people—gifts of grace, strength, and hope. For this, I give You thanks.
I confess, Lord, that too often I cling to my own weakness and fears, forgetting that You have already conquered the powers that bind me. I stumble and fall, but You raise me up. I grow weary, but You fill me with endurance. In Your triumph, I find the strength that I cannot summon on my own.
As night draws near, I choose to rest in the peace of Your presence. Guide me through the hours of darkness with the light of Your Spirit. Teach me to use the gifts You have given, not for myself, but for the blessing of others. May my life reflect Your generosity, even in small ways, as I walk in the path of Your love.
Lord, I trust that the same power that raised You to glory will sustain me through every trial. Tonight, I lay my worries at Your feet and rest in the hope of Your unfailing care. Grant me peace as I sleep, and awaken me with renewed faith to serve You tomorrow.
Amen.
May the peace of Christ, who has conquered all captivity and gifted us with His Spirit, guard your heart and mind this night and bring you rest in His unfailing love.
