Galatians 6:10 (NRSV) So then, whenever we have an opportunity, let us work for the good of all, and especially for those of the family of faith.
If
you have ever been cut off in traffic, you know what a game-changer
that can be for the day. Your brain goes into fight-or-flight mode, only
there’s nowhere to flee, and no one to fight, so your whole nervous
system lights up in a neon blast of confusion. By the time you remember
you have a horn, your new nemesis is two cars ahead of you and well on
his or her way to the office. You are shaking like an angry Chihuahua
and running even later than before. You have probably forgotten that
Galatians exists.
Likewise, have you ever
felt that relief when some wonderful stranger yields to let you correct
the mistake you made by getting into the left lane when your exit was
coming up? Or when someone lets you make an easy merge in construction?
Be
a wonderful stranger! Slow down and make Paul proud. Let that terrible
driver, or that confused teenager, or that eighty-year-old precious
child of God pull out in front of you and say a little prayer for them.
